Have you seen the silver skoda cab? Looks damn sucky. Skoda.

And guess what. It's a super silent ride. And I couldn't help but to ask the driver.

C: Just wondering, is this taxi running on diesel?
Dvr: Yes, diesel, not patrol.
C: Wow, the engine is very smooth and quiet.
Dvr: Ya, very good huh? -rubs his leather-wrapped steering wheel.

FYI: Diesel powered engines tend to be loud and 'rough' as they do not burn that cleanly, compared to petroleum. Lots of 'knocking' - caused by random mini explosions in the engine when the diesel combust and thus the sound.

Anyway I was driving around today. It's kinda disappointing that there isn't much thrill in driving. Especially so in singapore where the cars are much more expensive compared to other countries and with all the regulations and speed limits etc. So half the time you will be on high alert and driving safely coz you don't wanna damage your ride. Stress. Probably because it isn't my ride and there's more responsibility when driving it.

And driving an ATV(automatic transmission veh) makes driving alot more simpler, taking out the 'thrill' along with it. But it's really much better to drive compared to MTV whereby you have to keep changing gear and fear stalling or over-revving etc. Of course, with practice all those minor things won't be of a bother anymore.

So. Should I get ATV or MTV? My heart goes with MTV.
27sep 0040: Sigh. I always seek the easier way out. Like, right now i think im getting tired of my job. Hoping that i could go back to k9. Which is not possible.
24sep 0406: Excellent night. I havent gotten a single call past midnight thus far. Few hours to go.
23sep 2128: Ten more hours to the end of my duty. pfft. I think something bad is going to happen to me. Or would happen. When? I dont know. Come think of it, its so easy to get killed, sick, etc.
22sep 1111: Senior to me: Why do you keep reading newsweek? It's not good for the body. You should read something like FHM.

You are crazy. That literal.

But mistakes are good. Life isn't one if there aren't any.

Changing.

Change.

Need to change badly.

Never good enough for anything.

It was my first duty (excluding the previous one as understudy).

Not a nice feeling. It feels really horrid to be the one 'okaying' arrests.

"We've got S12346789Z. He was tagged by you."
Me: "Please hold while I confirm his status."
"Okay."
Me: "Alright that's a positive. Is he ready for take-over?"
"Yes."
Me: "Hold him there. I'm sending my men there asap."

And glancing at your monitors in the dark you realized you've just taken away the freedom of someone who's twice, thrice your age, and sometimes of your age. Someone who has a family. Loved ones. Or worse still, have no idea they've committed an offence.

I'm dying, out of curiousity, what would the look on their face be like. Sadness? Guilt? Shock?

I have no idea. I'm only clicking around and making calls.
21sep 0808: Time to sleep! Looking forward to going home later in the evening. :)
21sep 0122: Sigh. No need to sleep already. More shit coming in at this hour and 2 of 8 coms are freezing up on me. Sigh.
21sep 0043: Wah lao eh. Cheebye. .. I was half asleep and now theres a case to work on.
20 sep 1849: Sigh.. Really boring. Theres tv. Quite a no. of chi albums ripped but its just.. taxing somehow. Minor headache. I wish theres someone to talk to.
20sep 0715: Sometimes boys still disgust the hell out of me. Like leaving smelly socks around. Fermented uniforms. Not airing the room. Stinking up the whole bunk. Fuck.

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

My duty today. Means staying in, sleeping by a phone and having to wake only when it rings.

I will be home tomorrow evening.

Check out my new ride. =D

Looks damn tasty. Microwaveable teddies.

Sunday, September 17, 2006

I snapped like the last of my working headsets/headphones yesterday. booo. That's about three or four in a year on the average (including the ipod headphones that I cut and thought I could join back). It still hurts to think the record lifespan was 2 days.

I'm trying to look for a all-in-one phone. camera. mp3 player. java. edge2/gprs. expandable memory slot, preferably SD card and not memory stick. oh yea. camera. Anyway it's going to be a .. out-of-camp phone. (Please tag if you know of a place to clone under-the-table sim cards.)

-------------------------------------------------------------

There's like office politics which I doubt I'll understand in the near future. Some people are rather bitchy. Few actually. Half the time they would rather sit around and pretend to be busy (by, I assume, making the cubicle look messy and scrolling up and down old senseless spreadsheet documents) than to help out the others so that everyone can go home early. They would talk about things that hover around "getting qie4(cut?)".

bitching and whining, "ta1(he) qie4(cut) wo3(me), knn/tmd."

Yes I know how much nicer it would be to slack around, but we are talking about going home and, who doesn't want to? Besides, some 'clerks' are not as busy as the others. There are just varying yet fixed probabilities(??) of occurrence for different cases that we handle. When you finish your work just help, please? On top of that, your perception of time seems to alter by that wee bit. It seems to pass abit faster.

Half the time I finish my work fast (if you use your head, the effective duration for my job [and not the other 'clerks'], is about three hours a day.) and tio suan by the seniors. "Wah, damn slack ah." "Wah, you got alot of time ah." Retarded mentality. Shouldn't one be rewarded if he can finish his work fast? Apparently not. And now you see the link why one should look busy. I do not advocate that though.

I think I'm getting chronophobic. It's really dreadful to stare wide-eyed at the screen (that has only got intranet) and tune in to the ticking of the huge clock. "I'm wasting time, I'm wasting time!" Doesn't help to know that you are the youngest there in the office. I'm still 18. The other XXFs are like, 20, 21, 22, 25. And stare at the mini-applet I created on my com that strikes off the dates to ORD and tells me how many days to go, how many days have I been in service etc.

The last thing I'm quite unhappy about is the policy of having to wait around for everyone to finish work before going off. It's a freaking waste of time! At least half an hour is lost daily. An average of an hour a day. Basically there are people who would take their time to do their work, and when it seems late, they tell you they would be staying-in for the day and that everyone should, then, not wait for him anymore. Either that or you have people who change their clothes really slowly. Fucking hell. There's no point in holding us all back. Afterall, for me, the slightly anti-social one, I would break off in a fast walk upon stepping outside the camp.

I live about 30 minutes (inclusive of walking from my doorstep to my bunk and a 10 minutes train ride) away from camp and hell yea, I LOVE GOING HOME EARLY, even for ten minutes. What more, the others live much futher away and they don't seem to treasure their time.

grievances!
13sep 1044: Finally. Cleaned up the bunk all by myself. the ppl here cant be bothered and are so messy.
06sep 2203: Looks like i will be staying in more often.. Staying in is not that bad afterall. I could make good use of the time saved via staying in.
06sep 2010: Im so bored. Theres tv, but i dont watch tv. Sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Im going home tmr! Hmmm.. I could use a good chat with anyone..
05sep 0839: Im fear-stricken of a sudden. The realization that i am actually wasting time in here and ive got till 6feb08. Sure its office work. And its 8-5(7-7 in reality). this is so demeaning.
01sep 1134: Sigh. Need to stay back for the whole afternoon tmr at the home team academy. And it seems that 24hr duties are coming up this month.. Four times in total, 3 wkdays, 1 end.

Fren: Vote 4 hady. Join the newly formed 'busok brigade'. A proud production of fik.
Me: Huh? What the hell is that?
Fren: Nvm. Juz vote.
Me: Vote what? Where?
Fren: Dae singapore idol dae.
Me: Dude, do you realize you are texting someone who hasn't even seen a single episode of idol- not even five mins, be it local or foreign? haha
Fren: Dat was deduced over the course of ur past 2 msges.
Woah, careful there.

Lest your biker boy end up as pulp under my wheels.

I got owned badly by a taxi. Toyota crown. HAHA.

Well, I tried to do a mini drag race with a taxi but.. damn.. a 1.3L civic exi engine is no match for a 3L taxi engine. And also, I realized that cars on automatic transmission cruise faster than a manual one. MT cars only pick up faster and move faster if redlined.

gah.

Also, I nearly caused a motorcylist to kill himself. (Yea, the phrasing is supposed to be so.)

Basically I wanted to make a right turn. Coast was clear. So I did. And as I was making the turn, the motorcyclist made a right turn as well.

He should have died or rammed his bike badly at the red box (in the diagram), but (as you can see from the differential trace,) I did a huge U-turn and avoided him.

the beng blood runs in me!

Saturday, September 09, 2006

I'm getting really.. mixed up. Often doing things and taken aback only much later.

I wake up in the morning, lead my civilian life and then I go back to my office, get changed up and stare at my computer, answer phone calls, make myself a drink and have some biscuits at the pantry - the life of a sedentary worker.

At times I find myself staring through the scope of a rifle, or holding a pistol at the range, firing away. And to switch back so quickly back to a seemingly average civilian, taking the train, walking around in malls and eating, resting at home etc.

Back home, I revert back to a geek. Surfing the net, for quirkies, news, gaming, etc.

The scary thing is, I'm getting used to doing all these things passively.

Damn. I've tried speeding up metabolism but it doesn't seem to work. I've gained back all the weight. And so all my old clothes fit snuggly. It seems that's the weight whereby my metabolism peaks to infinity. Weight is capped there, but this weight isn't the ideal weight that I want. Guess what. I'm going to have my last meal and start. . yeah. teh whole cycle again. Sigh. What a waste. What's going to be different is that I'll be keeping a very tight watch on my calories intake after the whole process, again, and I'll try to put some muscles back.

=/

Tomorrow's a stay-in. I'll have to sleep by the telephone, usually this is a one man job, but I'll be understudying a senior, so it looks like there's company afterall.

This isn't a guard duty or what have you. Hence, thrsday goes on as per normal, With no snooze break, no booking out after the 24hr 'shift'. So I'll only be home; thursday night.

Umm. I guess I better sleep soon. It's almost one.

Monday, September 04, 2006

finally. there isn't a part of my body that isn't damaged. my right arm hurts like hell and i haven't got the faintest idea why. and i don't think i'm going to take painkillers though i still have a huge pack stashed somewhere.

today's a weird day. everyone seems to be in a bad mood. almost everyone in the office. mum. dad.

also, i'm taking a gamble. changing my diet.
give me two weeks. i would either look fat or thinner.

i forgot what i wanted to say. too sleepy. anyway it's my turn this wed to stay in to pick up phone calls 24/7.

?? not too coherent?

There's something about my blood or my scent that turns mozzies or biting insects on, really.

I got bitten like hell in my office. Got bitten like hell at home. Got bitten when I went wj's house this afternoon. And he never got bitten before.

geez.

Remember I posted my fuel RTR car up couple of days ago?

I saw this today. Similar decals!

I was walking around McDonalds like some dork trying to look for the brochure that has nutrition information printed on it. Recall seeing it quite a few months ago. Crossed out options of going to the counter and asking for a tray slip or asking the staff serving milkshake how much calories their milkshakes hold. Finally some good ole google-ing got me the data.

I'm pretty upset that it's quite abit of calories and on top of that, chocolate has extra calories.
