Third blogger charged.
Again, comments with regards to muslim(s)/malay(s). Can't be sure, didn't read properly.
I don't know, but it seems that the Chinese chinese, older generation SG chinese, and malays tend to be very sociable people, and my visits to the public library confirm this.
Perhaps younger people aren't really tolerant. And also, I guess people who think they are 'smart/civilized' often fail to see that the 'not-so-smart/civilized' people are not wired up to see or think about others, with regards to being considerate and all. (E.g., Am I flipping my papers too loudly? Am I shaking the table too hard by erasing my work? Am I being.. inconsiderate; basically.) Different mentalities. Some people don't care about others. Some people don't think they are 'disrupting peace'. I mean, after like, close to a lifetime of talking loudly and all, they probably find it normal, and us, abnormal. Try asking the ahpek in the kopitiam drinking his Tiger and eating peanuts to speak softer. Try explaining to him what is being refined. I did before. Well, to some, that word doesn't even exist. It's so alien. What's with speaking softly anyway? Like, seriously.
Some people don't like others to talk, or at least, especially in a non-english language. Can't really help but to form mental associations. And so they rant on their blogs. Well, I'm quite sure that they are pissed when some students talk loudly when discussing about their questions and all. Or perhaps everyone's pissed at each other. It's just that we have more blogs. And more eyes on the net.
Well well well. There's a chinese saying that goes, wu2 feng1 bu4 qi3 lang4, literally means no wind no rise wave. Yeah, go figure. (and by this, I mean, why are some groups of people seen as very very sociable people.)
